Two Day Orientation Program for Tibet Corps Volunteer

Two day orientation program for Tibet Corps volunteer was organized by Tibet Corps on 3rd & 4th July, 2019.

Tibet Corps is a volunteer program that offers Tibetan professionals, university students, and retirees an opportunity and platform to serve the Tibetan community. The program seeks to inspire Tibetans to strengthen the community, its institutions and the Central Tibetan Administration. The program is managed by Social and Resource Development Fund (SARD), Department of Finance, CTA.

The orientation program brought together 20 volunteers serving in various offices of CTA to one forum in order to provide a better understanding about the CTA and also to share & exchange their unique experience, ideas and knowledge.

The highlight of the first day program was an interaction session with CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay who spoke about the overall structure and process of CTA, and also advised the volunteers to have an enthusiasm to learn on a daily basis. The first day also includes meeting with Ven. Geshe Lhakdor, Director of Library of Tibetan work and archives (LTWA) who spoke about the importance of preservation of one’s own language and culture to volunteers and meeting with Sonam Norbu Dagpo, DIIR Secretary who spoke at length about the CTA’s international advocacy program and current situations in Tibet and urged the volunteer to be the ambassador of Tibet.

The second day program includes meeting with TPiE Speaker Pema Jungney who enlightened the volunteer about the evolution of Tibetan democracy and uniqueness of our democracy as party less system. The volunteer also had an opportunity to meet with Paljor Kalon Karma Yeshi who introduced the various programs of CTA and emphasized on the importance of preservation of the Tibetan identity. And in the afternoon, volunteer interacted with the Tibet Policy Institute Deputy Director Tenzin Lekshay about the work of TPI and Tibetan issues.
