Tibetan Entrepreneurship Development (TED) under Department of Finance successfully organized the 4th Tibetan Entrepreneurs Game Changers Conference at Bylakuppe from 18-19th August in collaboration with Tibetan Chambers of Commerce (TCC). The aim of the conference is to equip participants with necessary entrepreneurship skills to create and run their own business with the support of TED and promote entrepreneurship within the Tibetan community.
The conference was attended by around 175 diverse individuals including many who are start-ups and potential entrepreneurs, and existing and future entrepreneurs. A group of students from the local schools also enthusiastically participated in the conference.
A highlight of the conference as usual was an investment award competition which seeks to provide a platform for both aspiring and established entrepreneurs to bolster and sustain their enterprises. A total of 15 budding and established entrepreneurs participated in the competition. After the presentation and the final round of interviews, three entrepreneurs were selected by a panel of judges. Penpa Tsering from Kollegal Settlement was awarded a sum of INR 700,000 for his Agri services project. INR 505,000 was awarded to Tenzin Dakpa from Tenzingang settlement for a project on kiwi fruit plants cultivation. Gelek Kalsang from Kamrao Tibetan settlement was awarded INR 295,000 for his Gelek Dairy Farm enterprise. The funds will be awarded in installments upon completion of agreed upon milestones.
