Tibetan culture is rich in language, spirituality, art, and customs—yet it remains vulnerable in exile settings where cultural continuity is challenged by displacement, generational shifts, and external influences. The Preserving Cultural Heritage initiative seeks to address these challenges by safeguarding and revitalizing Tibetan traditions, values, and identity among younger generations.
Collaborations with cultural institutions, schools, and monasteries ensure a holistic and inclusive approach, reaching both lay and monastic youth across India. This initiative also embraces innovation by promoting Tibetan-language media, such as animation videos and drama productions, as tools for creative expression and cultural learning. SARD supports a diverse range of initiatives that promote the teaching and use of the Tibetan language, strengthen monastic and secular education systems, and foster community engagement through traditional and contemporary forms of cultural expression. These efforts include intensive language courses, workshops, public talks, performing arts programs, and the development of digital learning tools—all designed to make Tibetan heritage relevant and accessible in today’s context.
Under the guidance of 16th Kashag (Cabinet) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), one of the key initiative was the development of Tibetan Digital Library to preserve Tibetan cultural heritage, such as manuscripts, Thangkas, statues, videos, and audios, ensuring the community’s cultural continuity through secure and accessible digital archiving.
