Workshop on Strengthening of Democracy to the members of Doeguling Local Tibetan Assembly concludes today

A five-day workshop on “Strengthening of Democracy at the grass root level ” for the members of Doeguling Local Tibetan Assembly was organized by Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile successfully concluded today.

First, two days of workshop focused on teaching Parliamentary procedures to more than 50 registered participants from the settlement and the third day of the workshop was dedicated for the preparation of mock session on the last two days of the workshop.

Participants were divided into groups to prepare starred questions, solidarity resolution, legislative amendments along with the preparation of documents for the mock session.

Members were let in the enactment of the parliamentary procedure and proceedings during the last two days of the workshop. The mock session proceeded with the Chairman’s commencement announcement and commencement speech.

The mock session was chaired by Chairman, Vice Chairman and other members of Doeguling Local Tibetan Assembly.

The resource persons, Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok and Parliamentarian Khenpo Sonam Tenphel observed the mock session providing necessary suggestions to improve the proceedings of the Local Assembly.

This mock session witnessed 4 starred questions, 1 zero hour, 2 calling attention motion, 1 solidarity resolution, 1 annual report, etc.

Towards the end, participants expressed their appreciation towards Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile for organizing the workshop. They also urged the resource persons to organize similar workshops in the future.
